Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake Review!
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay.Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.Yet she spares Cas's life.
MOTHER OF GOD, THIS BOOK WAS WONDERFUL. I'm gonna be honest and say that when I read the first chapter I thought of SUPERNATURAL, the fact that the MC'S name was Cas was a bonus. This book's plot was wonderful! I thought that the writing style flowed smoothly and without a hitch. The supernatural elements were added in nicely and not overwhelming. I loved how the most of the side characters had a backstory that revealed about them but not so much that you went "Wha? Are they the main characters now?"
I had a few issues with the plot development, but those were resolved quickly. I loved how they solved the mystery of Anna's history. What happened to her was horrific. I loved how Cas and Anna's relationship developed rather nicely. All in all, I would recommend it to people who love gore, ghosts, and all that wonderful paranormal activity. Honestly, I never thought a hunter and a ghost would be my OTP. *sigh* This is my life and these are my choices.
4.5/5 stars

Hmm I should probably read this book soon, because I have it and it sounds so chilling and creepy from the reviews I've been seeing. Also the fact that the paranormal aspects weren't so cut-and-dry and instead kind of subtly put in there is a really get point too. I'm glad that you thought the plot and writing style were done really well.
